Yes - that is called TMJ or now TMD and it is associated with FMS. You really need to see a dentist that specializes in treating it. TMD is a fairly destructive to your teeth - clenching and grinding will really affect them. You need a splint to wear at night or whenever you are in a stressful situation that triggers symptoms. For treating pain, try using a hand towel that is wet except for the ends so you can wring it out. I throw mine in the microwave - moist heat is best. for that kind of discomfort. I also you an OTC sports cream called Myoflex on my jaw up by my ear to help with the pain. I hope that these suggestions are useful. Feel better.

Great idea fantod. my jaw locked last weekend and the doctor didn't tell me to do anything for it. I have myoflex for the joints in my hands. I will try that. Thank you so much. I'm still learning about this condition and every little bit helps.
