Explaining Fibromyalgia in a brief sentence
7 Replies
Jeannie3 - January 12

I was getting a hair trim the other day and during chatting I said I was on disability due to fibromyalgia. She asked what it was and I went dumb. I didn't know how to explaine it in one sentence. Any ideas or tips on how to handle this in the future, because I realized how often it does come up?

LOL thats what I thought too hehehe but if you think about it ,,, it does effect all of those. In other words everything!
What my doctor tells me anyways.

I always say it's a disorder that affects all the soft tissues in my body, including my brain, lol.

That works too, I bet for as many symptoms we could get as many descriptions.

This may sound weird, but I have difficulty describing what FMS is because I forget! Dang fibrofog affects my memory. I will read a good description, like some you guys have posted here and then forget it completely when someone asks me. That ends up making it sound like less of serious issue so people don't take my illness too seriously at times.

I always say it is a musculoskeletal disorder.
