Hi I'm Monica. I'm 21 years old and I have been recently diagnosed with Fibroyalgia. For a few years now I have been struggling with this frequent urination problem that has been such a menace to my life. I wouldn't mind it so much if it didn't affect my sleep but it seems that i get up several times in the night because of this disorder. I have had kidney stones in the past and i have recently seen a urologist but nothing has popped up as a red flag to distinguish what could be the cause of this conflict that wont leave me alone. I have read some things about my new diagnosis Fibromyalgia and some claims that people can suffer from urinary problems with the disorder. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there who is suffering from similar distress? My primary care doctor put me on Cymbalta and said it may take up to 6 months to kick in and that to me seems like an awfully long time to sit around waiting for results. We'll see I hope things work out for the best I have plans to see another doctor this friday hopefully he has the answers i need. If anyone has any advice or would like to a share similar experience, please do. I need all the help I can get.
Thank-you,
Monica.

Hi Monica, well yes, many of us do suffer from incontinence. I was treated with Detrol and that works just fine.

Often time people in our symptoms we have weak bladder, doing the Kegel exercises helped. If you do not suffer from repeated yeast infection or just bladder infection. You may want to ask your doctor to send you to see an urologist, who may do more profound testing. If not, then at least your conscience would be clear that you have no problem and that it's just the symptoms of FMS giving you the incontinence.
Cymbalta does work, I'm on 60mg and I have to say the incontinence almost worked immediately.
Good Luck To YOu.

Hi Monica, I too suffer from frequent urination, it really is frustrating. I was just wondering if anyone has noticed that thier urine has become very strong in colour as well as smell??? This is something I've noticed in the past few months, it is nice to know that we are not alone!!! Take care, Patty

The funny thing is I thought it was because of the cymbalta, because it helped me with my incontinence. The colour and the smell has changed for darker also. It is part of the fibro symptoms.

Hi Monica: I, as well as having a terrible problem with my bladder with. I was diagnosed with a spastic bladder a couple years ago (which is definitely a symptom of FM. At the time, we decided I was on a lot of drugs already and would wait until it was unmanageable. Well, my doc just prescribed Detrol yesterday, so I'm hoping it works. If it's not the pain that keeps you pinned down, the bladder surely does.

Take care!

Fibro and urinary problems are often together. Find a good Urologist. There are several medications that can help. I am on Oxytrol Oxybutinin Transdermal Patches which have been of considerable help. Detrol and the other milder drugs were of no help to me.

Monica,I am noy sure if mine is related to fibro but I do have freguent urination day and night but I drink all the time. I carry a water bottle with me everywhere I go and one on the night stand when I go to bed.

I have had frequent bladder problems just in the past few years. I thought it was menopause, until fibro diagnosis. Does anyone have a natural method for preventing infections? I drink cranberry juice and take a cranberry supplement.

Monica,

Hi, yes it is a big issue- I have no idea why but it is definitely as you say- a menace- to life. If and when I know of anything to help I'll keep you in mind. Interesting that so many of us suffer to such a great degree. Perhaps its to do with the disconnect of central and endocrine systems????

Monica, HI I'm fairly new to this forum. But What ptalana posted makes sense to me, I too suffer from frequent urination and the strong colour and smell. I was thinking I was pregnant, as in my 3 previous pregancies I remember that strong smell and colour.... the hormomes I'm guessing. I think I will take a pregnancy test just in case. Glad to know I wasn't only one frustrated.
