Difficulty rising from chairs?

Hello, can anyone offer help in improving my ability to get up & down from chairs? I am very tall, which makes it tough using 'average' height chairs, but in the past few years I've been unable to get up & down from 'higher' chairs without using one or both hands...even during times when I don't feel bad and can walk briskly for 40 minutes. I've had good success with aerobic exercise in controlling my FM, but can not tolerate all but the simplest of 'weight' exercises. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks! :)

I wish I had some better tip than this, but this is what I do. I make sure I have a good grip on the back of the chair and a table (or some furniture nearby), I slowly rise (using my arms as my primary support) and when I'm fully standing, I pause for a few seconds. I find that first step to be the hardest one because my legs don't want to cooperate. I also do yoga everyday for 1/2 hour to help with stiffness. Good luck!

Have you researched about myofascial pain syndrome? I think you need to be careful with your exercises and stess levels. Fibromyalgia just doesn't let go.
