Hello all. It's great to have found such a helpful forum !
I have had fibromyalgia for many years, and have been able to endure the pain with over the counter meds until recently, when things got much worse. I can hardly walk these days and I'm simply exhausted. The pain has won, this time.
My doctor recently prescribed Savella, a brand new drug for Fibro. It causes me to feel totally 'drugged up' and I'm in a complete fog. All I want to do is go back to sleep. I'm hoping that these problems will go away in time, but I don't seem to be able to find any info about these side effects. Am I all alone in feeling this way, and is this probably the normal initial response to Savella? (I'm hoping these problems will disappear as time goes on) I would love to hear from anyone here who has experienced the same. Thanks!

Hi happytoday, happy you found our forum the more the merrier, we tend to seek help and give advice. Come on board and let us know what you think or give advice.

Well I was waiting for someone to post about this new drug, I read it was promising, you just need to be patient.

I'm on Cymbalta and had the same feeling you did, but that only lasted long enough for me to get my body used to the medication. Ditto for the drugged up and all fogged up and sleeping. I did not have any energy and the only thing I did was sleep and veg in front of the tv and sleep some more. I was confused, but guess what that only last anywhere from 10 to 20 days and then you see a difference.

I wake up with the sun and I ache quite less and I'm feeling quite better, and no mental fogginess.
Most of the time.

Don't despair just give it time to act on you, if after a month you are still the same then it's time to talk to your doctor, unless you get some really bad reaction to it.

Come back to us when you are awake, you'll feel better.

Thank you so very much for your reply, Axxie. I needed to hear that things could possibly be better in time. I promise to get back to you all when I'm less tired. I will also report on how I feel in a month or so. Again, thank you for the encouragement to continue. I shall !

I have had Fibro for about 20 years and don't get a lot of the pain that so many do with this syndrome unless I over-do it. But I have so many of the other strange things that go on.

My doctor gave me the 4-week Titration Pack of Savella and I literally just took my first dosage. I am also on Cymbalta, Trileptal, and Trazodone.

I will keep you posted on how I do in this medication.
