What is the most valuable treatment you have has as a Fibromyalgia patient? How does it help you?

What is the most expensive waste-of-time treatment you have endured?

Best: Physical Rehabilitation Specialists that gave me adequate pain medication and Rolfing. My pain is now controlled and my knots and muscle spasms are gone. Worst: A Rheumatologist!

I can tell you the most expensive and painful waste of time was getting a series of cortisone injections in tender points.. did absolutely nothing but make me hurt even more!

I have had trigger points in my neck and they made me black out and vomit and started a week long migraine. I can not feel anything in my neck shoulders or down my left side so can not feel any needles or anything going in or coming out.

A physiatrist was my worst experience. He came in the exam room and announced that he had "a big problem with FMS." I left and consequently disputed his bill. He was censured by the hospital he is affilated with by the time I was finished.

A nutritionist was the best thing I have done. She has been treating FMS for over 20 years. She has given me supplements to help manage the FMS and made simple useful suggestions.

I also think seeing a pain specialist was very helpful. The first script he wrote was for gabapentin which has been a tremendous help. I should have gone to a pain specialist sooner.
