Cold Blue Hands
5 Replies

I have never seen cold and/or blue hands in any listings of the symptoms of FMS. But this has come along with every other symptom I have of FMS. My hands are cold most of the time no matter the temp outside and sometimes even blue or purple. I even thought it was in my mind and my husband and I were sitting in a seminar and my right hand was purple. I was so glad someone was around to see it. I was relieved when he answered yes to "Can you see my hand is purple?". Does anyone else deal with this or is this not FMS related?

Have you been checked for Raynaud's Syndrome? Poor circulation to hands and feet is one symptom and it can make hands and feet feel very cold and they will turn purple.

It sounds like raynauds syndrome. Yes this is common in FMS.

Yup, have blanket will travel. If sitting for any length of time at a meeting or the dentist, I have a blanket. Sometimes I also use a microwavable tube sock filled with uncooked rice. It hold the heat nicely.

Thank you so much I'll ask my doc about the reynauds

I agree with JJ1 - Raynauds is probably the cause of your problem. I believe it is listed as one of the possible complications of FMS. MY Dad has it and his fingers often turn blue or are cold to the touch. You should be sure to discuss this problem with your doctor. Best of luck to you.
