can Does ginger root tea help nausea
1 Replies

Recently I wrote about a non-stop mucous problem that is a new issue with my long fibro history - and now I have constant nausea. Dr. ruled out allergy, sinus, pneumonia - just said it's probably the fibro and the choice was drugs that make me sleepy or live with it...Seems worse when I wake up in the morning but persists thru the day. I wonder if the tea has a pleasant taste ,does it have side effects, ? I'm getting weary of gingerale, and crackers. I am60 plus years old but I recall that my morning sickness wasn't this bad years ago when I was pregnant!Hope someone has a suggestion - I've lost over 20 lbs. from not eating much or keeping it down.

Wow, I can't believe your doctor just "dismissed" you if you have lost 20 pounds from this. It seems more serious than "just" fibro. I haven't really had nausea problems. Any kind of ginger is supposed to be good for it. By the way, most ginger ales do not even have ginger if you read the labels. My kids doctor always recommended flat coca cola (not diet), and that seemed to work. Or how about old fashioned Pepto Bismol? If you think the nausea is from the mucous, maybe something like Mucinex would help. Do you maybe have an ulcer? There is an OTC medicine called Emetrol for vomiting. but I don't think it's something you can use all the time. If none of this helps, ask you pharmacist, they may be able to recommend something. I hope you get some relief from this.
