You could consult with a physiatrist. They specialize in rehab and exercise programs for people who are injured or have a chronic illness. Swimming, tai chi and walking are three exercises recommended for FMS. I have no idea if weigh lifting is a good idea. You would be the best judge of that. If you are unhappy with your current doctor, go to the National Fibromyalgia Association website and ask them for a couple of referrals to fibro-friendly doctors in your area. Take care.

I have found that aqua therapy is helping to keep my muscles relaxed. I simply march in the water and do leg raises and arms too. It even seems to help the fatigue

I have been weight lifting for 9 months now. I worked with a trainer at my local gym that understands my condition. My main goal is to regain some of my lost strength, releive stress, loss weight (the meds have caused me to gain weight) and to keep the depession from getting worse. As you weight lift, you will find that you sore more But if you are hurting most of the time what does it matter. The benefits to weight lifting have far outweight the "soreness". My trainer is very good and I have learned to listen to my body. Good luck!
