Cjbetty - If the only thing your doctor gave you is Cymbalta than you need to see someone else now. If you are seeing a rheumotologist, not all of them are created equal. You should go to the National Fibromyalgia Association website and ask them for a referral to a fibro-friendly rheumy in your area.

FMS is a multi-faceted beast. You can not just throw Cymbalata at it and hope it all goes away. You need a doctor who is going to treat the whole package. Sleep issues, IBS, depression, varying levels of pain etc. That being said, pain medication (narcotics) are the last resort when treating FMS. And, as I told you before, you have not allowed enough time to really figure out what other alternatives may work for you.

I certainly understand your frustration having been there myself. The very best thing you can do for yourself right now, is find another doctor.

In the interim, keep a journal detailing all of the symptoms you are experiencing. If you have any recent bloodwork, get copies and take those with you as well. You can reasonably expect that it may take up to 3 months to really sort out the best combination of medication to affect some level of comfort.

I hope that there are better days ahead for you. Take care and keep in touch.
