Melatonin helps with sleep

Hello,

I am a newby and Iam still in the dx stage. Im almost 90% positive that I have fibro. I have the majority of the symptoms. The worst being the pain! I've recently started taking melatonin for my sleep problem. It works in helping you to fall alseep, but you will wake up very early( as soon as it wears off). I like it because it is a natural herb that I give to my 9 year old son. His pediatrician told me to give it to him for his sleep issues. So I decided to take it! Does NOT help with the pain... I wake up stiff as a board. But at least I can get in a few hours sleep now.

Melatonin is a neurotransmitter created in the body that is created by the pineal gland. I've used it for sleep before and I couldn't tell a difference. I'm sure its a great remedy to try before moving onto stronger hypnotics.

Other sleep aids that can be helpful are Calms Forte or Mid-Nite. I am currently using these in place of Melatonin and so far I'm happy with the results. Take care.

We are all so different! I've used melatonin (Source Naturals brand) for ages, experimenting with the dosage. I take the time-release and if I wake up, half a sublingual tablet. Some people need higher dosages than others. When I combine melatonin with half an Ambien (or less), I get good sleep.
