Cymbalta Questions

Cr1bb3r - January 5

Hi all,

My doctor diagnosed me with FM and prescribed Cymbalta for me about 6 months ago. I tried it for about 10-12 days (30mg once daily), but stopped as I didn't like the way it was making me feel -- nausea, headaches, dizzy, and the pain seemed to be worse.

I recently saw my doctor again and he advised I give it a month to truly see if it will benefit me or not. I am trying this now and I was doing some reading in the forum that for about the first 7-10 days, the nausea, dizziness is expected and you just have to ride it out.

My question is related to the timing of taking it - I have been taking it around dinner or early evening closer to bed and I find it just keeps me awake. Like many of you, I struggle going to sleep and staying asleep, but I am feeling like I am not going to sleep at all. I am thinking that maybe if I take it around lunch that by bedtime I might be able to sleep better? I am trying it closer to bedtime so that I can relax more and sleep through some of the side effects. Any advice would be appreciated - thanks.

I take my dose in the morning with breakfast. Some people do complain that Cymbalata affects their ability to sleep. Why not try it and see if the change makes a difference in your ability to sleep.

If an anti-depressant sedates you, take it at night. If it stimulates you(causes insomnia), take it in the morning.
