Hi Sunni -- I believe you and your son actually have Lyme disease, a bacterial infection, generally gotten from the bite of an infected tick, and also can be passed transplacentally. Autism is one of its expressions in children. The bacteria inflame nerves and soft tissue. Go to www.lymenet.org/FlashDiscussion/MedicalQuestions and read up on it all there. There are lots of people to help you there. The best testing lab is www.Igenex.com. It's best to work with a Lyme-treating doctor. We generally need antibiotics, plus people are also doing other treatments too. You will need to be watching the health of your daughter too. The Lymenetters can help you through this. You can also email me at sfrobink@aol.com if you want to discuss. | |
