has anyone ever heard of 'difficulty in swallowing' with being a symptom of fibromyalgia? Thanks for any input.

I suffer with that problem. However, I have a thyroid condition and my doctor said that it is due to that condition. Perhaps it is a combination of both.

I too have the problem of chocking and thickening in my thrat when I eat~ I thought I had a hernia, and come to find out my gastric Dr did the scope that my esophogus was spastic when he looked, he said it is all due to the Fibromyalgia. I try and now take extremly smaller bites especially with breads~ It is a constant reminder of this miserable condition. I hope you find some thing to help. I take Nexium for the severe reflux and heartburn it causes nightly~

Hi, I too have trouble with swallowing. It is especially difficult in the morning. I try not to focus on it and relax, but lately have been having more trouble. The symptoms seem to be endless. Sometimes I want to cry, like the time I fell in the movie theatre because I was too weak to catch my balance. I remember what my fahter told me when he was ill: "Its just the way it is." Although it sounds simplistic, it helps me.

I too have the swallowing problem. Some days worse than others. This morning, very noticable. I have had the endoscopy, etc. and all normal. I now believe it is a common symptom of Fibro. also. Nancy, my mother also told me "Its just the way it is, and you'll have to live with it." Annoying, but true. It does help me also.
