I have experienced it from time to time. I do think it is related to my FMS. It comes and goes.

I get that too along with swelling in the rib, stomach, chest area at times, which makes it even harder to breath from the tightness of the swelling.

I found out that I had Fibromyalgia because I had such shortness of breath and chest pains that sent me to the ER twice. After more and more detailed tests it was determined that the connective tissue surrounding the lungs was being affected. Myofacial release (PT)gave me a lot of relief, but if i overdo-it returns.

Yes it can. In the past month I was rushed to the hospital and on another night I called 911. It seems to be better when I am sitting up. As soon as I lie down I can not breath. Very scary, but very real. I have seen my doctor twice, but he continues to send me home. I am about to leave for vacation and I will be at a cottage in the middle of nowhere and I am actually thinking of not going because I am afraid of not being able to breath with no help at all.
