So I wrote my rent check for $200 dollars more than it was supposed to be this month. When I went to the atm I got the insufficient funds message and freaked out. Checked the balance and it said .26 cents and that's when I figured out what went wrong.

I went to the leasing office and the manager said "yeah, I saw that check and thought it was odd. Sorry, but we can only credit your account for next month." Ok, so you thought it was odd but you couldn't pick up the phone and call me? And if you thought that why didn't you keep that comment to yourself? Ugh! How frustrating. I know it wasn't her fault but that comment just irked me for some reason. I can laugh at most of the stupid stuff I do but this one just takes the cake. Gotta love the form of dislexia that comes with fms!

I'm not sure that they can legally keep your money even if it credited to the next months rent. I think I would do a little further investigation if you have the energy. Take care.

OH tnichel, I know how you feel, about the dislexia that comes with fms.

I think you are right Fantod, they have to return the check with a note, or a phone call, they are not allowed to cash a cheque that is not the correct amount of rent, unless you had a extra bill to pay, then it has to be paid separately.

I would look into this!! Hope you have the energy for it.
