Hi, I'm 16 and have fibro. Other than just myofascial pain, I also have knots all over in the areas of pain. Is this common in the areas of myofascial pain, or are the knots something separate? Do others have muscular knots as well?
Thanks!

I have tons of knots, my husband tries to rub my back and it takes my breath when he rubs over one...I have been taking cymbalta 60 mg and it has helped tremendously...

Welcome shantastic. Yes, knots are a pretty common occurrence in my case. Stretching with pilates or yoga poses can help, or a visit to the chiropractor or even a massage depending on what your needs are. Working on your posture can help prevent as many from coming in the first place. Good luck!

Shantastic - What you are describing are trigger points. This is very common with fibromyalgia. Basically, you have groups of muscles in knots. In turn, they radiate pain throughout the area where they are located. Your rheumotologist can inject them to break up the pain cycle in that area. Not a comfortable procedure but the end results are worth the trouble. Take an ice pack with you if you decide to go this route. If your rheumotologist does not want to help you, ask for a referral to a pain specialist. Failing that, go to the National Fibromyalgia Association website and register. After you do that, you can see a list of doctors in your state that treat FMS. Good luck and take care.
