Coming off my meds... any suggestions?

I've had fibromyalgia for years now and finally found that Effexor is the one drug that works for me to keep most of my symptoms at bay without side effects. I've been on it for a couple years now and am finally living a semi-normal life.

Problem is I just found out I'm pregnant and I'm going to the doctor today and he's going to take me off my Effexor.

I'm not gonna lie... I'm a little terrified of this.

Does anyone here have any suggestions on how to get through a pregnancy without any fibro medication?

Congratulation are in order to Kodo, I am happy for you and your family.

Effexor is non addictive as a matter of fact antidepressants are not addictive. You should be able to quit without too many problems.

First I would speak to your doctor and see about quitting, I would go by lowering the dose, just so you don't have signs of being suicidal. Pay close attention to any changes, especially sudden changes in your mood, thoughts and feelings. Especially when you stop cold turkey or you lower the dose, you might become aggressive, restless or anxious. If you do have any symptoms, you may not see them, so that is why I would invite that you have a good support system at home.

I'm not worried about you getting off them while pregnant where I'm worried is after you have given birth, where a sudden drop in hormone level, can be very serious.
