My symptom is pain pretty much everywhere. I am taking 20 MG oxycontin 2 x daily and vicodin as needed prescribed for osteoarthritis spinal pain. Are these meds commonly prescribed to relieve fibromyalgia pain?

Yes! Only if you have a knowledgeable Doc! It seems that those meds work really well for some people. And don't let anyone make you feel guilty about taking them, Even the Medical community are at odds over the use of opiods, But you are the telling factor.....If you get relief, then it is all worth it!
