effexor instead of cymbalta?

My doctor has suggested changing to effexor from cymbalta because my insurance doesn't want to cover the cymbalta. Has anyone switched? Did effexor work as well? Thanks in advance for any help

I could not use Cymbalta - kept me awake, heart racing, etc. Effexor was a little better but not much. However, I am very sensitive to meds. Got off the Effexor and tried Tramadol, bad move on my part. I'm still searching for something to help.

I was on effexor sometime ago and it didn't agree with me, had bad reactions even had suicidal thoughts, got off that baby pretty fast.

That's when they put me on Cymbalta and I haven't looked back since.

Hey if effexor works for you, use it, one thing you should ask your doctor for is celebrex, it works very well, it stops the pain receptors therefore you feel no pain.

I on the other hand I'm allergic to celebrex will have to try something else.

My experience with Effexor was a very bad one, hitting almost every side effect, and resulting in a lot of unnecessary tests and espenses. Not a fan.

Original dosage of Cymbalta worked for about a month, but am now on a double dosage to manage 'minor' daily pain, with Lunesta to help me sleep.
