Mirapex - New Drug

I found this surfing the net. A drug called Mirapex, used for Parkinson's has been tested and seems to work for Fibromyalgia. I'm going to ask my doctor about it.

There was a news segment on WBRZ out of Baton Rouge on the use of this medication for treating the pain associated with fibromyalgia - did anyone see this???

This drugs primary use is in Parkinson's and it replaces the dopamine in your brain that parkinson's patients are deprived of. Dopa, in humans leads to the production of epinepherine and norepinepgrine. Some of the antidepressants we are prescribed do the same thing but in a different manner.Like Remeron instills norepherine and Paxil instils seretonin. Best to ask your doctor.

My doctor gave me a copy of the only known study that was done. It was a double-blind, placebo-controlled, single study. There was only 60 patients studied and of the 60 only 39 actually took the drug. It shows that it did help with pain. The study is so new that in my opinion I would rather wait for more studies before I add another drug to my system.

I've read a bit about Mirapex, but it seems that they need more studies so it may be a while. However, Wellbutrin works to balances norepinephrine and dopamine levels - I wonder if Wellbutrin would be a related alternative? I'm curious.
