Do antidepressants work?

I was on effexor for four years, and it seemed that it was not workinf for me. My dr. put me on Wellbutrin, I have been struggling on it after 6-7 weeks I still feel lousy and my pain has increased. So my question is from what I have read that we should be working on seritonin and norepinephrine and Wellbutrin works on dopamine and norepinephrine. What is your take on this, fibro with depression???
