Does anyone else have any problems with sporadic coughing fits? I sometimes choke on my own saliva, and sometimes I wake in the night from couging fits caused by the feeling of a "dry spot" in my respiratory system. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm going to see my rheumy tomorrow, but would love to hear from anyone else as well, as we all know how little the medical establishment knows about fm as compared to those of us who have it! ;-)

Yes! I wake at night choking and sometimes choke on my saliva or whatever I'm eating. It's not serious, but it's annoying.

oh good grief i am not alone!!! i was even choking on food and was afraid to eat for awhile. my cough is getting worse and i need to figure out why. i just thought it was taking forever for me to get over my last cold/flu that i had back in the spring.

I have skirted all around this post, thinking I don't cough, why read it. But, what you said about choking on your own saliva really rang a loud bell. Sometimes it's like a big drop of saliva is just mysteriously in my throat and I start to gag and cough.
