I was taking Prozac 40mg for the past several years to treat my preexisting depression and fibromyalgia. I went off of ot for about 4 months and when I started taking it again, it seems to have lost its effectiveness. My doc switched me to celexa 40 mg but I am still in pain and often depressed. Any Suggestions?

You may needanother "prozac type" anti-depressant. Sometimes it just doesn't do what it had done previously for you once you have gone off of it for awhile. Have you tried Ultram? It is a good Fibro medication, worth giving it a try. Many have found relief from pain, and it is non-narcotic. Fibro is not a inflammatory syndrome, like osteo-arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. Good luck. It just isn't any fun being in constant pain, and no relief in sight.............. trust me I know all too well. OUCH!! :(

When I first started taking celexa, I had an amazing experience. It was like I could feel the dark clouds parting from over my head and I felt so much better. It helped my pain and my depression. After a few year of taking it, I started having sleep issues. I went for a sleep study, and they found that the celexa was significantly increasing my leg movement during the night. It also increased my incidence of sleep walking. I was very unhappy that I had to discontinue taking it because it worked well for me for a long time.
