Question: I have Fibromyalgia I've have had it for 10 yrs ,I have a 9 yr old little girl that always says her back & neck hurt her ALL the time ,Could she be getting the signs of Fibromyalgia ? Mind you my young sister has Fibromyalgia too . At first I thought it was growing pain ,but it seem to be get wrost. Does anyone have ant anwers for me Thanks Patty ?

Answer: Yes -- I have an answer for you!!! We have Lyme disease, which is a bacterial infection, usually acquired from the bite of an infected tick, but can also come from other iinsects, and also can be passed transplacentally, which unfortunately is probably what happened in your case re your daughter. Go to www.lymenet.org/FlashDiscussion/MedicalQuestions to read about it. There are lots of people there to help you. Testing can be done through the Igenex lab(www.Igenex.com). It's best to find a Lyme-literate doctor to work with. We generally need antibiotics, plus people are also trying a lot of other treatments. Answer: Hi Patty, Yes, we went through all of the questions and tests last year. My daughter started having signs of FM at about the same age as your daughter, and now she is 11. There can be a heredity factor for sure. So, this is her first winter with full blown symptoms and it has not been fun! She is coping as best as she can, though. Hope your daughter is doing okay. I don't have any answers for you, but my daughter would love to talk to someone around her age with FM! We've tried a number of things to help with the symptoms of FM--accupuncture may help a little, as does taking a hot bath, relaxation, etc. Take care! Dawn =

Answer: reading about this really scares me as I have 2 young daughters (3 and 4) and I am so worried that they will get it at some point. Looking back, i think my symptoms started when i was much younger, I even had insomnia at a young age, and maybe my accident just triggered it to get much worse. I really hope both your daughters feel better, I can't imagine a child having full blown symptoms, hopefully something will help. I read that they are working on figuring out treatments for children with fibro now, so hopefully they come up with something safe for them to take soon! =

Answer: My 15 year old daugter has fibro and her neck and lower back are her main source of pain although she has pain everwhere at points. She should see a pediatric rhuematologist. =
